Barry the Monster
Created with the goal of providing children who feel different with a story that teaches them that their differences are not something to hide, Barry the Monster is a children’s picture book about friendship and being different that explores the feeling of needing to change oneself in order to “fit in”. The story follows a lonely monster named Barry, afraid that he won’t be accepted by the neighboring field of playful berries, he comes up with a plan to change himself. He creates a costume to look just like them and leaves the woods to join their fun. When his costume falls apart, revealing who and what he really is, the berries’ reaction surprises him.
